Back to the basement

Well, I did a 7 mile run last night in the basement on the treadmill. I feel like I cheated, but I was o very busy and I didn't feel like running in the dark last night so I just went downstairs. I got to watch Lost for the first time in what seems like forever.

The run was really great. I really needed a good one to follow the last one. Not sure why I have a crappy run after a long run. It was mostly an easy run. I tried to visualize where I was outside on my run at different mile markers. I got down to the last 1.5 miles and it started getting tough, but overall it was great.

I am still having problems with the middle left toetip. I pulled a bunch more skin off it the other night before so it looked quite ugly. When I got done running, I looked at it again and the blister seemed to be deeper and bigger. ugh, will this ever go away?

7 mi run; .5 mi walk; RPE 3.5

  1. I am glad you had a better run...I always have a crappy run after my long run as well, unless I get out and do an easy ride to loosen everything up the day after the long run. Sometimes your muscles get fatigued and just need a different type of work to stretch them out. Your body will thrive with variety (do you have a bicycle that you could just go out for 30-45 minutes ride). That is part of why I enjoy training for triathlons. I use different muscles (or the same ones with a different mode of transit) which helps stretch me out a bit :)

  2. Oh, I'm SOO glad to hear that from you! I thought maybe I was doing something wrong. J has often mentioned that she has done a 4-mi run the day after a long run or a 3-mi run the day after, etc. What?! I seriously need a recovery day. Maybe I'm missing something. Glad you wrote this! If Vardotrichic has a bad run, maybe I'm not so far off with all this. :)
